Potterheads of the world - rejoice!

While I've been neck deep in the Wheel of Time series (running a business off it, in fact), JK Rowling has apparently been creating a whole new way for her scads of fans to enjoy the Harry Potter series via Pottermore.com. It is "the same story, but with a few crucial additions. The most important one is you." What does that mean? I have no idea! But see for yourself:

Notably, Rowling says the site will be interactive and allow fans of any age to "share, participate in and rediscover the stories." Also announced...e-books annnnd NEW HARRY POTTER INFO. Um...eeep?

And, seriously...bonus points for the WICKED illustration in this video. And triple bonus points to Jo for being gorgeous AND brilliant AND classy. She's a triple threat. Take that Stephanie Meyer.

Geek speak + pasties = Fellowship of the Boobs: An LOTR, WoW, D&D, RPG Burlesque

So, I usually write about fantasy things, or entertainment like books and video games. Well, this is certainly fantasy. I'm quite sure it's entertaining. And it's based on a video game. It's "Fellowship of the Boobs: An LOTR, WoW, D&D, RPG Burlesque" by the sexy ladies of Gorilla Tango Theatre in Chicago.

Being a particularly huge fan of RPGs, I especially liked the part of that video that says "And you."

Now, I'm no burlesque aficionado, but I think it's brilliant. They've taken something so utterly serious as burlesque and turned it on its ear. They've geeked out nearly nude ladies by dressing them as popular fantasy game/movie characters. How can that turn out badly?

By the way, FotB is the second geek/girl-fest GTT has provided to the nerds of Chicago. The first was "Boobs and Goombas: A Super Mario Burlesque" (Pretty sure Mario + Burlesque had never been done before. Bet Nintendo never saw that one coming).

Found + Robots = FOBOTS!

Greenville, SC has a very cool art festival each year called Artisphere. I saw a LOT of fantastic art there a few weeks ago, but nothing quite so cute as these little guys. They're called Fobots - that's "Found Objects Robots." Clever, eh? The artists piece together quirky, adorable 'bots from antiques and give them names. WANT!

This is my favorite! I love his face :) (Partly because The Observer uses those binoculars in "Fringe")

My friends are possibly tired of my harping about the author Cat Valente and how amazingly amazing she is. I've only read one book, but that was enough magic, mysticism and folklore to make me her faithful follower for life (see: The Orphan's Tales: In the Night Garden).
Of course, now she's released "The Girl Who Circumnavigated Fairyland in a Ship of Her Own Making", and just the title makes me smiiiiile. Check out the trailer:

Greetings and salutations! Tis now the month of June and I am back from vacation and ready to blog. Lucky you :)

This week, I bring to your attention some fabulous finds I spotted while at The Ruby Pear, a tea room in Noblesville, IN. Sure, you can't all be lucky enough to have cucumber sandwiches, tea and scones at The Pear, but you can go to Ibis & Orchid Designs to see the beautiful night lights I saw there. I hoped to find a fairy light, but the flowers reminded me of a fairy garden, nevertheless <3

Ibis & Orchid also makes some beautiful votives, candle sticks, vases, wall sconces and more!

I'm not sure I have ever met someone so artistic, creative, and crafty. Or colorful, vibrant and quirky (in a good way, of course). Mini Magic - in French!

I was lost within the inner-workings of Google today, searching for fabulous fairy finds. I almost settled for something that was "so-so" to post on here. But, something told me to keep looking. Onward, said the little voice. Search onward.

When I did, I found this gorgeous website by Miss Clara, a French artist who makes magical artwork. See: Le Jardin de Miss Clara

What does that mean? I haven't the foggiest. But if you scroll down you can read an English version of her home page, which tells you enough to click the GORGEOUS banner to navigate through her beautiful, whimsical artwork. You can enjoy, also, nature noises and magical sound effects in the background. Frankly, her website is a work of art if you ask me, but what I really would like to point out are such works as:

Yesterday, my mother was lamenting a stone garden fairy she passed up last summer and it got me thinking (dangerous, I know). I haven't sought for too many outdoorsy relics as of yet.

So, I thought I would peruse the WWW for whimsical outdoor decor. Hence, I found and swooned over this birdfeeder from GardenFairy.com

Isn't it charming, magical and classical? I'll also take "slightly creepy" in a no-pupil-grinning-stone sort of way. But we can overlook that in light of the fact that it FEEDS the BIRDS! LOVE it!
